Inside every woman is a superhero. To celebrate this, we are amplifying our artist community and giving you an inside look into their creative processes. We’re highlighting photographers, directors, sculptors, painters, and so many other creatives to show you how they wear The Artist while creating their work.
We sat down with Olivia Landau, diamond expert & gemologist, to learn more about her process and what it means to her to be an artist.
What type of art medium do you work with?
I am a fourth generation diamond expert and gemologist! I work with precious metals and natural diamonds to create bespoke engagement rings for couples around the world. I also design our diamond jewelry for The Clear Cut Collection.
What does it mean to you to be an artist?
To be able to create something meaningful and beautiful that will be cherished forever.
What has your art taught you?
Designing rings and diamond jewelry has taught me so much about finding beauty and inspiration all around me.
How long have you been doing this?
What is the same about your art since you started, and what has evolved?
Designing an engagement ring is much more collaborative! We are seeing more women get involved in designing their own rings.
What does your art mean to you?
Helping couples create their dream ring means the world to me! I still pinch myself that this is my job!
What drew you to creating your art? / Where did you creative interest stem from?
My parents were both antique jewelers, so I grew up admiring pieces.
Was there a person in your life that inspired you or who made an impact in your art?
My mom has always been my biggest inspiration.
Is there a particular message you're sharing with your art?
In each of the rings we create, I try to represent the unique style and love story of the couple. Some couples include birthstones, engravings, hidden halos, or other personalized details to the ring which makes it especially meaningful to their relationship.
